As Newcross continues to scale beyond the 400 people in its nationwide offices, and c.9,000 nurses and healthcare workers, it is determined to become the best employer in its sector. There is a genuine belief that talent and culture are key competitive differentiators, but there remains so much opportunity going forwards. The People function at Newcross works pretty well. In fact, it is already well ahead of the rest of the industry. However, in order to become the business Newcross is aspiring to be (and is absolutely determined to become) there is a huge amount more to do to drive value and make Newcross a great place for great people to deliver great service and generate great value for people, customer and shareholders alike. The primary objectives of the role

  • Define a clear, coherent and ambitious People strategy to support the achievement of Newcross’ commercial objectives by making Newcross an even happier and more productive place to work
  • Support the CEO and Board with thought leadership relating to all elements of people leadership and in a way that is practical and relevant to the business
  • Support the ‘Learning Partner for Life’ moonshot, driving forwards a digital learning agenda that will power huge growth for the business
  • Find innovative ways to successfully circumnavigate the UK’s skills shortage, inspiring your team to think broadly and creatively about building the Newcross talent pool
  • Define the requirements for, and lead the effective implementation of, People technologies that deliver radical improvements across all aspects of the people agenda
  • Design and implement the optimum organisation design, people structure and processes which will significantly contribute to the business achieving its ambitions and growth
  • Ensure that industry-leading quality standards are adhered to across the entire employee journey with Newcross
  • Provide a consistently excellent experience to every person whether an applicant or long-standing employee, driving an employee experience agenda recognises high performance and feeds business growth
  • Build and cultivate productive relationships with board colleagues and their teams, influencing effectively across the leadership team and shaping the culture of the organisation from the top down
  • Positively impact the retention of talent within Newcross’ broader base of colleagues and workers, championing best in class ‘talent relationship management’ practices
  • Use data to identify opportunities for improvements, optimise team efforts, and make informed decisions about where best to invest your time
  • Responsible for the people budget and setting up, maintaining, and further developing all relevant People KPI and data information
  • Identify the root cause of issues and utilise problem-solving techniques to design and quickly implement solutions
  • Ensuring a market-leading approach to Diversity & Inclusion to enable Newcross to build truly diverse and talented teams and provide them with an inclusive culture in which to be their best selves
  • Shaping leadership development + inspiring a culture of coaching and continuous feedback
  • Further developing learning technologies & innovation, including wider use of Newcross’ Virtual Reality platform, whilst also continuing to roll out Newcross’ internal apprenticeship and further education offering
  • Leading Reward strategy, covering financial and non-financial incentives schemes across the business
  • Helping to build a world-class volume recruitment engine, enabling the continued growth of the business through the growth of their colleague base

Additionally, you will be/have:

  • A deep appreciation for the link between a world-class people agenda, and a business’ ability to meet stretching goals whilst evolving to meet the needs of an ever-changing industry and volatile, uncertain world
  • Innovative, enthusiastic, and always curious, with an ‘always learning’ mindset. Comfortable to challenge and be challenged, you bring notable modernity to your People practice and team
  • A proven leader, you are comfortable straddling both the strategic and operational domain, with a demonstrable ability to inspire action in others, including not only your own team but your peers and the broader business
  • Highly capable and mentally dexterous, you thrive in fast-paced environments, where the expectation is to operate with a strong sense of urgency to deliver tangible results
  • A strong leaning towards talent, and an appreciation for the challenges and opportunities facing an organisation looking to scale its workforce in a competitive space
  • An ‘owner’s mentality’ with an entrepreneurial outlook and “no task too small” attitude; willing to roll up your sleeves but equally comfortable operating in the strategic domain, delegating and working as part of a team
  • Highly numerate, analytical and able to synthesise complex data with ease to form meaningful and actionable insights
  • A decidedly organised “doer” with a bias for action and an exceptional ability to multi-task
  • Personable, pragmatic, resourceful, energetic, resilient, highly responsive, authentic, non-corporate & comfortable with ambiguity
  • International experience is advantageous
