The Role

Head of L&D programmes – Full time/Part time

Bicester (office & virtual working with some national travel)

£50 – 60k dependent on experience plus bonus and benefits

Stratton HR was established in 2002 to provide organizational development, talent management and HR support services to growing businesses. Experiencing year on year growth, we continue to build on our HR Support service offering and onboarding new clients.


We have developed our L&D offering significantly over the last 2 years and are now in need of someone with the ability and desire to lead the team and take it to the next level. This is a role for a self motivated, service oriented individual who wants to build a L&D practice, work in a commercial environment with high growth clients and add real value to the people agenda.


We are output driven and work flexibly whilst appreciating the value of collaboration across our growing team. We are open to considering a 4 day working week as well as some (but not all) time in the office in Bicester. Therefore, candidates do not have to live locally to Bicester but be willing to undertake travel to the office 1-2 days per week when not on client site.


The role is varied and challenging combining L&D design, project management and delivery for clients in both the leadership and management development space as well as 1-2-1 coaching for customers and building /leading a team of inhouse and freelance associates who work with us to service our clients’ needs. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple clients, from varying sectors, all of whom are seeking to grow. You will ensure our programmes provide situationally relevant business focused solutions and support the professional development of employees.

Skills / Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in an L&D role either in house or in a consulting/professional services business preferably with a business psychology/organisational psychology qualification
  • Experience of creating, managing and implementing innovative learning and development projects/initiatives, including workshop-based training
  • Some experience of managing talent assessment and building career frameworks combined with sound judgment around people.
  • Strong commercial focus and business acumen. The ability to understand what drives value in a business and how the people strategy needs to support business objectives
  • Strong relationship building skills, able to build credibility with key contacts and stakeholders often at a senior level and add value
  • Confident, articulate and intelligent with strong communication skills
  • Service oriented with a desire to get it ‘right first time’
  • Self-motivated with a good level of drive and enthusiasm, ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good analytical skills, understands the value of data and evidence in problem solving
  • Strong technology skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and a good understanding of L&D tech platforms. Digitally savvy.
  • Good project management skills coupled with organisation and prioritisation – able to manage multiple priorities and multitask effectively
  • Happy to travel when required as clients are based all over the UK. Must be able to drive and have own car.
